ATADA Image Tutorial Page

For Those Who are not Comfortable with Digital Imaging Operations and Do not want to Pay a Professional to Submit the Image, Please Follow these Instructions:

1) Arrange the art into an approximately square arrangement with a neutral background.

2) Set your camera's menus for the largest, highest resolution, highest quality .jpeg image that it can produce. The image size must be at least 1575 pixels in the smaller direction (older 3 megapixel or smaller cameras are unable to generate large enough images).

3) Photograph the art in landscape mode (wider than high) with a small margin at the top and bottom.

4) Save the resulting image on your computer as a .jpg format file.

5) Send the image by email as an attached file to the ATADA Graphic Designer, Wes Pritts, Wes_Pritts@hotmail.com . (Be sure that the email includes the image file name, the member's name and the business name in the message. The image caption is included on the Full Member application form.)

6) Wes will crop and resize your image as required.

7) An image submission does not relieve you of the responsibility to submit the Full Member Application which is found at http://www.atada.org/full_member_application.html . You must also send a check for your 2008 dues (Full Member, $400 for 2008, $200 additional per additional gallery) to ATADA, 355 Buena Vista East #710W, San Francisco, CA 94117, USA. You may phone Alice Kaufman, ATADA Executive Director at (415) 863-3173 if you wish to pay by credit card.

8) Your directory listing will appear on our 2008 Directory page a few days after submission at http://www.atada.org/members.html . You should check that the image is as you want it to be and that there are no errors in the caption, contact information, specialties, or services. If corrections are needed, please email the required corrections to Arch Thiessen, Webmaster @ATADA.org.

If you are unable to perform operations 4) and 5), we suggest taking your camera to the nearest Kinko's and ask them to put your image on a CD. Then mail the CD to Wes Pritts, 4115 Linden Street, Harrisburg, PA 17109. Be sure that the CD is sent in a suitable mailing container. Wes can also accept a 35 mm slide or a transparency, but the quality of the resulting image may not be as good. You may phone Wes at (717) 608-7277 if you have any questions about your image.

If You Choose to have a Professional Photographer Photograph Your Art and Submit the Image For You:

What Will Happen to Your Image after We Receive It?

1) The ATADA Graphics Designer, Wes Pritts, will crop and resize your image to 1800 pixels wide by 1575 pixels high if required (6 inches wide by 5-1/4 inches high at 300 dots per inch). In no case can we enlarge an image. If your image is too small, we will paste it onto a black background of the required minimum size.

2) We send the image to the printer. The printer will print the image at full size, then trim 1/4" off each side for bleed. Holes for the binding will be punched 1/4" from the edge into the resulting printed image on the left or right side depending on whether your image is a right or left page. We will not know which side the holes will be punched on until we submit the final directory to the printer.

3) A mockup of your directory page will be posted on the ATADA 2008 Directory Page, http://www.atada.org/members.html , a few days after receive it. The image posted on this page will show the location of the binder punchouts.
